Creative Claws hosts Writers' Corner
Cowley College’s Creative Claws writing club hosted its first Writers’ Corner
of the semester Tuesday night at Brown’s in Arkansas City.
Sixteen presenters, several of them first-time presenters at the regular event, presented original works.
“There was a wonderful variety of works,” said Marlys Cervantes, club sponsor. “The tones ranged from serious to sarcastic, sentimental to humorous. Cowley students are so talented. It’s always a great night.”
The club will host two Writers’ Corners next semester, on February 11 and April 19, as well as a comedy competition in April. Cervantes asks that any students interested in creative writing classes be sure to check those out on the schedule under English as they enroll for next semester. “I’ll be teaching Creative Writing and Poetry next semester and Ryan Doom will teach Fiction Writing,” Cervantes said.
Students who have questions about the club activities or the courses are encouraged to visit with Cervantes in Humanities. The next Creative Claws meeting will take place Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Student Life Conference Room.
