Fleig has Concert Band ready for Thursday's performance

Concert BandNow in his fourth year at Cowley College, instrumental music instructor, Josh Fleig, has assembled a talented group of individuals in the school’s Concert Band. That talent will be on display this Thursday at 7 p.m. during the Concert Band’s fall performance in the Robert Brown Theatre. There is no cost to attend the event.

“I am very pleased with the progress of the band this semester,” Fleig said. “I’ve never felt this confident about concert week with this particular ensemble.”

The Concert Band will perform several different pieces during Thursday night’s performance.

“I have really enjoyed the pieces we have worked on this semester,” Fleig said. “I know it will be an exciting evening of music.”

Also, the Guitar Ensemble will be featured in an encore performance of their program from last week’s Jazz Band concert. The Guitar Ensemble is a brand new group that was formed this semester.

“We have a solid group of players that all share a common passion and enthusiasm for the guitar and for a variety of styles of music,” Fleig said.

Currently the Guitar Ensemble is focused on performing jazz arrangements, but plan on branching out into other styles in the weeks and months to come.
