Record number of students turn out for Cowley College's Fall Senior Day
With high school seniors from across Kansas and Oklahoma on hand for
Cowley College’s Fall Senior Day on Wednesday, close to 300 individuals
took part in the event. The 298 participants were the most ever to take
part in the Senior Day activities.
Along with a campus tour, students were given a chance to win prizes by answering trivia questions about the college. They were then treated to special performances by the CC Singers and Tigerettes. Members of Student Services also provided music and a slideshow during its presentation.
Members of the many campus organizations were on hand to provide the students with information, while the students also got an opportunity to meet instructors in the different academic programs through an Academic Fair.
“I think the students had a really good time,” said Ben Schears, executive director/enrollment and outreach services. “The academic component at the end was very good in addition to what they learned during the day.”
Lunch was provided for the students and their parents in the Brown Center’s Earle N. Wright Community Room.
Along with the 248 high school seniors, 50 parents shared in the day’s activities. Schears was pleased with the turnout.
“Statistically, we have a lot better chance of getting a student to come here if they have had a chance to come to our campus and see what life is like on the Cowley campus,” Schears said. “My admissions staff (Rikki Hettenbach, Shayla McDonald, and Lory West) did an outstanding job of organizing the event and putting it all together. Terri Hutchinson also helped a bunch as did faculty and staff.”
Schears also praised the work done by the Cowley College Ambassadors.
“I think this is the best group of Ambassadors we have had since I have been here,” Schears said.
