Winter Wonderland dance festival to be held December 4-5
With last year’s Winter Wonderland dance festival selling out the
Robert Brown Theatre, it was decided to have two performances of the
dance festival this year.
Led by Cowley College dance instructor Jennifer Blatchford, students in Cowley College’s dance classes will put their talents on display during the Winter Wonderland dance festival held December 4-5 at 7 p.m. in the Robert Brown Theatre. The cost to attend is $4. Tickets may be purchased in advance from the Humanities Office or at the Cowley Box Office the evening of the performances.
More than 200 participants will take part in the performances as the event will also have special performances by the Tigerette Danceline, Ark City Dance, Cindy’s School of Dance, and the Arkansas City High School Danceline.
“I think it is going to be an amazing experience and a great opportunity for the community to see all of the talent that we have here locally,” Blatchford said.
Along with Blatchford, Cindy Bennett from Cindy’s School of Dance, and Blatchford’s mother, Terri Schroeder, who is the Director of Studio at Ark City Dance, have helped put together performances. Participants in the show range from three years old through college age.
There will be several genres of dancing on display. There will also be a special vocal performance by Cowley College sophomore Nicole Hoerschgen.
Blatchford is looking forward to making this year’s event a memorable one.
“This is a neat collaboration between the community and the college and a way to showcase the kids,” Blatchford said.
