Cowley�s Golden Tigers to hold spring enrollment

 

Golden TigersSpring enrollment for classes in the Golden Tigers at Cowley College is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25 in the Earle N. Wright Community Room inside the Brown Center at Cowley.

The Golden Tigers is for women and men age 50 and over. There is a $5 registration fee and a fee of $2 per class. Fees for classes and trips are due at the time of enrollment. Some classes have additional costs or supplies needed.

Persons planning to attend enrollment from 1-4 p.m. Jan. 25 should bring mailing labels to use on their enrollment forms and sign-up sheets. This saves writing your name repeatedly and speeds up the enrollment process. Enrollment by telephone or mail will be accepted after Jan. 25.

The Golden Tigers also have three educational trips planned in the spring.

    Here is a list of trips offered in the spring:
  • Thursday, March 31 – Junction City, KS. Learn more about the history of Fort Riley. There will be a driving tour through the Fort with stops at the Cavalry Museum, Custer House and the 1st Infantry Division Museum. Additional sites may also be included. Depart at 7 a.m. and return at 8 p.m. Cost is $40 (includes lunch).
  • Thursday, April 21 – Wichita, KS. Trip to the Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre. The trip will consist of a wonderful buffet lunch and the musical play “Pump Boys & Dinettes”. Between changing tires and backing pies, the gang performs a rousing mix of country western, rock ‘n’ roll, and blues in this charming tale of friendship, romance and life’s simple pleasures. Depart from Ireland Hall at 10 a.m. and return by around 5 p.m.. Cost is $45 (includes lunch).

May

  • Thursday, May 12— Mystery Trip. Travel to an unknown destination and visit a variety of unknown locations. Plan to leave at 7 a.m. and return around 7 p.m. Cost is $45 (includes lunch).
  • The annual spring luncheon is planned for May 5 in the Wright Community Room. Cost for the lunch is $8.

The AARP Driver Safety Class will be offered March 17-18 from 1-5 p.m. It is an eight-hour classroom refresher course. You must attend both sessions to receive a certificate. Insurance companies in Kansas give a discount to seniors on your car insurance upon class completion. Robert Chorn will be the instructor. There is a $12 fee for class materials.
