Finalists for Cowley Homecoming royalty announced

 

Five women and five men have been chosen as finalists for Homecoming queen and king at Cowley College.

Crowning of this year’s queen and king will take place at halftime of the men’s basketball game vs. Kansas City on Feb. 2. The men’s game begins at 7 p.m. The Homecoming Masquerade Dance will follow at 10 p.m. in the Earle N. Wright Community Room.

Brief biographies on the Queen finalists and their activities at Cowley:

 

  • Milissa Crawford

Milissa Crawford of Newton is the daughter of Michael and Renae Crawford. At Cowley she is involved in PTK (Phi Theta Kappa), is a Student Ambassador, work study, and was the November Student of the Month.

   
  • Shaelynn French
Shaelynn French of Derby is the daughter of Tracy and Victoria French. At Cowley she is a member of the CC Singers, secretary of CCSS, a member of Act One Drama Club and Wright Room Improv Troupe, is active in the Cowley Dance Department, and played the role of Helen Keller in “The Miracle Worker”.
   
  • Erin Griffiths
Erin Griffiths of Winfield is the daughter of Slade and Terri Griffiths. At Cowley she is president of Student Senate, a resident assistant in the Kimmel Dormitory, and a Student Ambassador. She was a finalist for Queen Alalah 2010.
   
  • Alyssa Struble
Alyssa Struble of Wellington is the daughter of Clint and Sharon Struble. At Cowley she is a member of the Tigerette Danceline and serves as a Student Ambassador.
   
  • Jordan Williams
Jordan Williams of Arkansas City is the daughter of Kevin and Terri Williams. At Cowley she is president of fellowship in PTK, is a member of the spirit squad, and was crowned Queen Alalah 2010.
   
Brief biographies on the King finalists and their activities at Cowley:
   
  • Alstin Benton
Alstin Benton of Ponca City, OK is the son of James and Felicia Benton. At Cowley he is a member of the national champion cross country team as well as the track and field team. He also participates in intramurals and serves as a resident assistant in the Kirke Dale Dormitory.
   
  • Aaron Brooks
Aaron Brooks of Udall is the son of Lance and Carla Brooks. At Cowley he is a Cowley Tutor, a member of PTK and the CC Singers, and had the lead male role in “South Pacific” and “The Miracle Worker”. He is also a member of the Academic Excellence Challenge team, which took first place at the Snow Bowl in December.
   
  • Jordan Lukert
Jordan Lukert of Clearwater is the son of Dale and Debbie Lukert. At Cowley he serves as president of PBL (Phi Beta Lambda), PTK, and FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). He also serves as a Student Ambassador, Cowley Tutor, a resident assistant in the Storbeck Dormitory, and was the school’s September Student of the Month.
   
  • Aaron Rea
Aaron Rea of Lawrence is the son of Dan and Julie Rea. At Cowley he is a member of the Cowley Tiger baseball team and was named a Second-Team All-Jayhawk East performer as a freshman. He is also involved in Cowley’s Foster Parent Program and was named the school’s October Male Student-Athlete of the Month.
   
  • Zach Reynolds

Zach Reynolds of Goddard. At Cowley he is a member of the CAAT (Cowley Awareness Activity Team) and serves as a liaison to the Student Senate.
