Former Cowley College student to Perform Organ Recital at Grace United Methodist Church
Former Cowley College student and current Southwestern College student Anna Stevens will play a senior organ recital Monday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield. The program includes works by Couperin, Buxtehude, Bach, Dupré, and Gigout. The organ music will be followed by a short video presentation on the music of the Jesus Movement, prepared as part of Steven’s senior project at Southwestern.
Stevens grew up in Arkansas City, where she first experienced music through the Kindermusik program. She later studied piano, flute, voice, and organ. Her teachers included Becky Routh, Delphia Jennings, Nancy Eis, Melba Maechtlen, former Cowley College music instructor Stephen Butler, and Cowley College vocal music director Connie Donatelli.
After two years at Cowley College, she transferred to Southwestern where she is completing a music major and a minor in music in worship. Her performance studies are with Timothy Shook and James Leland. Stevens is an organist at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Arkansas City and is a member of the Southwestern A Cappella Choir, SC Singers, and the college chapel worship team.
The Winfield recital, which is open to the public, will be followed by a reception. The church is located at 320 College St.
