Jazz Band and Jazz Combo to perform outside concert

Instrumental MusicHoping to get the word out about the upcoming Jazz Band/CC Singers concert on April 26, the Cowley College Jazz Band and Jazz Combo will perform from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 on the lawn between Galle-Johnson Hall and the Brown Center on the school’s main campus in Arkansas City.

The event promises to be a great way to spend the lunch hour and excellent preparation for the groups’ participation in the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival in Greeley, Colorado, on Friday, April 29.

“I am very excited about what these groups are doing this year,” instrumental music director Josh Fleig said. “I had the opportunity to take the Jazz Band to Greeley a few years ago for this annual jazz festival, and it was a tremendous learning experience for me and my students. These groups sound amazing this year, and I can’t wait to strut our stuff at the festival and at our concert here on campus.”

In addition to the Jazz Band and Jazz Combo, the CC Singers, under the direction of Connie Donatelli, will also be traveling to Greeley to participate in the festival. This will be the group’s first foray into the vocal jazz genre, and they will perform their festival material at the Jazz Band/CC Singers concert on April 26.

Be sure to stop by from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 and get a sneak peak at these exciting performances.
