Students keep them laughing during annual comedy competition
Creative Claws hosted its annual Comedy Night Thursday in the Earle N.
Wright Community Room. Over 40 audience members cheered on contestants
striving to win the coveted title of “Funniest Person on Campus.”
Ryan Doom, co-sponsor of Creative Claws, hosted the event, with the assistance of Marlys Cervantes, co-sponsor, and Creative Claws club members.
“It was a fun night,” Cervantes exclaimed. “I was really proud of all the participants. I’m glad I didn’t have to judge.”
Adam Borth, Communications professor, Meg Smith, Journalism professor, and Travis Truax, assistant tennis coach and adjunct professor, were the judges for the evening. Truax was the guest artist and entertained the audience singing original songs accompanied by guitar.
The grand prize went to Clareasa Johnson and Crew, and the second place winner was Morgan Wilson. Rafael Biltz, Tyler Gilbert and Jordan Hill were also given prizes for doing a great job entertaining everyone during a time when all are dealing with final projects and getting ready for the end of the year.
The next event of the creative writing, communications and photography programs will be Life: Through Word and Lens, which is reception and showing of works from the programs. The reception will be Thursday, May 5, in the Wright Room at Cowley College from 6-7:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.
