Fashion show highlights End of Year Bash activities at Cowley

End of Year Bash activitiesAs a show of appreciation from the graduating class of 2011, a fund-raiser fashion show was held Wednesday night in the Earle N. Wright Community Room.

Exceeding its goal of $400, the fashion show raised $531. The money will be used to purchase a plaque, glass globe, and a tree to be donated to the college as a thank you from the soon to be graduates of the college.

Individuals in the fashion show donned outfits they may be wearing later in life, when they have settled on a career, while also wearing outfits that were light-hearted and fun. Refreshments and snacks were provided and drawings for gift baskets were held during the event.

Erin Griffiths, a sophomore business administration major, who served as president of Student Senate and was the school’s April Student of the Month, helped organize the event.

“I am very appreciative for all the help I got from the faculty and staff at Cowley and the entire graduating class feels that way as well,” Griffiths said. “This was our way of giving a little something back to the school.”

Griffiths also wished to thank the Great Western Dining staff, technical director of theatre Jamison Rhoads, and McCool Flower Shop.

The fashion show was part of a busy day in which several fun activities were held on the Arkansas City campus as part of the school’s End of Year Bash. There were activities in the McAtee Dining Center, put on by C.A.A.T. (Cowley Activity Awareness Team); students also were able to enjoy a 100 foot obstacle course, a 50 foot Slip-n-Slide, and a shaving cream fight on the south side of the McAtee Dining Center.

To conclude the day, the last dance of the school year was held in the Wright Room. A free photo booth was provided at the dance as a way for students to capture their memories from a rewarding year.

Participants in the fashion show included Erin Griffiths, Kelsy Patterson, Devon Tracy, Meghan Cahill, Rosi Simmons, Jason Dewey, Walisson Gomes, Aysia Garza, Katie Lewis, Milissa Crawford, Alyssa Struble, Shaelynn French, Kalon Steinaway, Joseph Wakefield, Tyrus McGee, Katelyn Edwards, Sam Nolting, Amanda Westerman, Isaac Wilson, Dustin Sandoval, Nick Ward, Whitney Williams, Brandon Gillogly, Tyler Gilbert, and Brad Weir.
