Fall in-service held at Cowley Colleges Mulvane Center
Cowley College held a fall in-service for adjunct instructors on Thursday,
August 12 at the Mulvane Bloomenshine Center. The evening began with
a deli sandwich supper and lots of conversation among instructors,
returning and new alike.
Over 50 adjunct instructors attended the meeting, as well as Slade Griffiths, vice president of academic affairs, Sue Saia, vice president of student affairs, and several department chairs or their representatives from the Arkansas City campus.
Before getting down to business, Cynthia Jones, Director of the Mulvane Center, was surprised with the presentation of a corsage, a cake and a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" from those in attendance.
Griffiths expressed his appreciation to the adjunct instructors and staff for their part in the current success of the Mulvane Center. Enrollment at the Mulvane Center is as high as it has ever been. In an effort to get adjunct faculty and students involved in something besides classroom work, three different opportunities were presented to the group by their respective facilitators. The Book Club (Robbin Davis), Garden Club (Kathy Sikes) and Writing Club (Robin Hill) will hold monthly meetings this semester. And, as always, food is included.
The evening concluded with the instructors dividing up into their specific disciplines to share information and ideas. The Mulvane faculty and staff are ready and willing to serve Cowley students when classes resume on Thursday.
