Lead Safe Work Practices in Kansas training sessions to be offered at Cowley College

Teaming with the Kansas Safety Training Center, Inc. to provide Lead Safe Work Practices in Kansas, Cowley College will host a pair of training sessions.

The first session will be offered at the Mulvane Center on Friday, October 8 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The second session will take place on Tuesday, October 12 at Cowley College’s main campus in Arkansas City.

The Environmental Protection Agency issued a rule requiring the use of lead-safe practices and other actions aimed at preventing lead poisoning. Under the rule, beginning April 22, 2010, contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1979 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.

To enroll or obtain additional information call either 620-441-5303 or 620-441-5267. Cost for the training is $150. The course number for the training in Mulvane is NCB6675 MU36 and the course number for Arkansas City is NCB6675 36.
