Broadway actress to speak at Cowley College
Heather Hawkins, a well-respected actress on Broadway, will speak at
Cowley College’s main campus in Arkansas City on Tuesday, Oct.
Hawkins’ presentation is part of the college’s Musical Theatre Master Class. The event is open to the public and will be held at 2:30 p.m. inside the Robert Brown Theatre.
Hawkins has performed in the musical “Avenue Q”, which ranks as the 21st longest running show in Broadway history, and will begin rehearsing for the new musical “Writing Arthur” in November.
“Writing Arthur” is one of eight shows receiving attention in the National Alliance for Musical Theatre's Festival of New Musicals, in which shows are seen in excerpted concert reading form before an audience of producers and other industry folk.
The eight selected shows, culled from a pool of more than 100 applicants, were selected by the NAMT festival committee, comprised of artistic directors and producers from NAMT member organizations.
Other famed cast members in “Writing Arthur” along with Hawkins include, “Saturday Night Live” veteran Ana Gasteyer, and Kelli O’Hara, who was a Tony Award nominee for “The Light in the Piazza” and “The Pajama Game”.
Take advantage of this opportunity to hear from a Broadway touring actress when Heather Hawkins visits Cowley College’s Arkansas City campus on Oct. 12.
