Students from 20 different schools receive scholarships to Cowley College

 

The Student Services Department at Cowley College has awarded scholarships to the following students.

  • From Arkansas City High School: Ana Matilde Gomez, daughter of Paz Sanchez, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in FFA, School Counts, and CSA. She plans to major in nursing.
    Piper McCord , daughter of Roy and Joni Curl, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in KAYS, FCA, SADD, Work Ethics, National Honor Society, and the danceline. She was a member of the honor roll all four years and is undecided on a major.
    Cody McNulty, son of Jim and Debbie McNulty, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At ACHS, he was involved in basketball, football, FBLA, and the National Honor Society. He plans to major in pre-medicine.
    Brittany Jacobs, daughter of Cody Jacobs, is the recipient of a ACT Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in AC Players, Bulldog Connection, and the National Honor Society. She plans to major in pre-engineering.
    Karli Metcalf, daughter of Patrick and Teri Metcalf, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in FBLA, SADD, FFA, tennis, School Counts Program, Girls State, Career Internship Student Council, band, and was the girls basketball manager. She plans to major in Ultra Sonography.
  • From Arkansas City Christian Academy: Micah Fry, daughter of James and Deb Fry, is the recipient of a Trustee Scholarship. She is undecided on a major.
    Alexis Strecker, daughter of Kevin and Rita Strecker, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. ATACCA, she was involved in basketball, music, choir, science fair, volleyball, and was a teacher’s aid. She plans to major in cosmetology.
    Austin Strecker, son of Kevin and Rita Strecker, is the recipient of a Trustee Scholarship. At ACCA, he was involved in basketball, soccer, weight training, yearbook, musicals, and science fair. He plans to major in architectural engineering.
    Trevor Reichle, son of Mitch Reichle and Karen Dillon, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At ACCA, he was involved in choir and school plays. He was a member of the honor roll and plans to major in music.
  • From Winfield High School: Jennifer Clements, daughter of James and Joyce Clements, is the recipient of a Hall of Scholars Scholarship. At WHS, she participated in debate, track, volleyball, cross country, newspaper, yearbook, and forensics. She was a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll and plans to major in pre-law.
    Andrew Marymee is the recipient of a Journalism Scholarship. He plans to major in pre-engineering.
  • From Oxford High School: Ethan Neises, son of Shawn and Tony Sparks, and Ron and Rayna Neises, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Oxford, he was involved in basketball, FFA, welding, and leadership. He was a member of the honor roll all four years of high school, and placed first at the Hutchinson College and Arkansas City High School welding competitions. He plans to major in welding technology.
    Brent Wagner, son of Dana Barto Wagner, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Oxford, he participated in band, choir, yearbook, school musicals, and was a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to major in graphic design.
  • From Dexter High School: Tanner McClure, son of Kevin and Julie McClure, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Dexter, he participated in football. He is undecided on a major.
    Abby Crow, daughter of Brad and Terry Crow, is the recipient of a Trustee Scholarship. At Dexter, she participated in volleyball, basketball, band, choir, media, 4-H, FCA, Drug Free Dexter, Bigs and Littles, student council, and the National Honor Society. She was a Kansas Honor Scholar and is undecided on a major.
    Cody Drake, son of Jason Drake, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Dexter, he was involved in cross country, track, basketball, student council, Bigs, forensics, Big Brothers in School, and the National Honor Society. He plans to major in animal sciences.
  • From Wellington High School: Nicholas Ewing, son of Brad and Brenda Ewing, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Wellington, he was involved in cross country, wrestling, track, FCA, and BPA. He plans to major in electronics engineering.
    Marina Robinson, daughter of Wilt Robinson and Corinna Dill, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. She is undecided on a major.
    Danielle Anderson, daughter of Dana and Beverly Anderson, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Wellington, she was involved in Key Club, marching band, pep band, and jazz band. She plans to major in psychology.
    Curtis Defore, son of Jeff and Karla Defore, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Wellington, he participated in football and was a KU Honor Scholar. He plans to major in pre-engineering.
    Jaci Hall, daughter of Jim and Joni Hall, is the recipient of a ACT Scholarship. At Wellington, she was involved in jazz band, pep band, marching band, concert band, madrigals, choir, Key Club, Crusaders of the Stage, and Scholar’s Bowl. She was a Kansas Honor Scholar and plans to major in music.
    Stephanie Saffell, daughter of Michael and Lori Saffell, is the recipient of a Trustee Scholarship. At Wellington, she was a member of the prom committee and served as a tutor. She was a member of the KU Honors Program and plans to major in accounting.
  • From Sedan High School: Jordyn Green, daughter of Danny and Becky Williams, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Sedan, she was involved in FCCLA, Color Guard, band, FCA, and 4-H. She plans to major in elementary education.
    Kaitlin McDonough, daughter of Kenny and Dera McNown, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Sedan, she was involved in cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, softball, choir, select choir, student council, FCCLA< and the Letterman’s Club. She received a I rating at the Kansas State Music Festival and was an all-league softball player. She plans to major in music.
    Baylee Williams, daughter of Tracy and Teresa Williams, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Sedan, she participated in choir, select choir, volleyball, cheerleading, softball, concert choir, and was the senior class president. She received several I ratings at regional and state music festivals and plans to major in psychology.
  • From Douglass High School: Jessica Bissell, daughter of Brian Bissell and Tricia Vigil, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Douglass, she was involved in volleyball, FCCLA, and SADD. She is undecided on a major.
    Jason Piha, son of Jackie Piha, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Douglass, he participated in basketball, football, baseball, SADD, FCCLA, and D-Club. He was a member of the honor roll and is undecided on a major.
    Daniel O’Crowley, son of Elizabeth O’Crowley, is the recipient of a ACT Scholarship. At Douglass, he was involved in cross country, football, basketball, wrestling, tennis, SADD, FCCLA, and student council. He is undecided on a major.
  • From Clearwater High School: Megan Mengelkoch, daughter of Chuck and Mary Mengelkoch, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Clearwater, she participated I KAYS, SADD, student council, volleyball, and the National Honor Society. She was a member of the honor roll all four years and plans to major in pediatric nursing.
    Deanna High, daughter of Rodney and Shirley High, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Clearwater, she was involved in SADD, C-Club, and vocal music. She plans to major in social work.
    Rachelle Pelz, daughter of Jami and Deb Pelz, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Clearwater, she was involved in cross country, softball, KAYS, SADD, C-Club, CYO, select choir, band, and newspaper. She plans to major in physical education.
    Brittney Patton, daughter of Doug and Anita Patton, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Clearwater, she was involved in SADD. She is undecided on a major.
    Tayler Akin, daughter of John and Dana Hancock, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Clearwater, she participated in track and field and powerlifting. She is undecided on a major.
    Jessica Jaax, daughter of Kevin and Judy Jaax, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Clearwater, she participated in volleyball, basketball, track, and the National Honor Society. She plans to major in nursing.
  • From Derby High School: Valerie Nielson, daughter of Michael and Nikki Nielson is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Derby, she was involved in cross country, soccer, mentoring, Spanish Club, and church seminary. She plans to major in nursing.
    Carly Davis, daughter of Stephen and Shannon Davis, is the recipient of a ACT Scholarship. At Derby, she participated in cheerleading, Pantherettes, Rodeo Club, soccer, and the National Honor Society. She was an All-American cheerleader and a Honors Scholar. She plans to major in dental hygiene.
    Van-Anh Nguyen, daughter of An Nguyen and Huoi Tran, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship.
    Anh Nguyen, daughter of Muoi Nguyen, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Derby, she participated in KAY Club, FCCLA, French Club, and the National Honor Society. She plans to major in pre-medicine.
    Kelly Gibbon, daughter of Harold and Janelle Gibbon, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Derby, she was involved in Key Club, KAY Club, Drama Club, Panther Pac, student council, SADD, FCCLA, and mentoring. She was an Honors Scholar and plans to major in pre-pharmacy.
    Vanessa Sherman, daughter of Allan and Janet Sherman, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Derby, she was involved in the Drama Club and Thespians. She is undecided on a major.
    Katie Vorderstrasse, daughter of Bruce and Carmen Vorderstrasse, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Derby, she was involved in basketball, soccer, and the Maranatha Youth Group. She plans to major in physical therapy.
    Courtney Kilian, daughter of Gary Kilian and Amy Maphet, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Derby, she participated in FCCLA and basketball. She plans to major in psychology.
    Kimberley Deaver, daughter of Steven and Dagmar Deaver, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Derby, she participated in tennis, theatre, choir, and SADD. She was a member of the National Honor Society and plans to major in physical therapy.
  • From Wichita West High School: Bethany Livengood, daughter of Charles and Jacqueline Livengood, is the recipient of a Hall of Scholars Scholarship. At Wichita West, she was involved in robotics, Student Technology Leadership, and the National Honor Society. She was  named to the Presidential Honor Roll and was a Kansas Honor Scholar. She plans to major in communications.
    Jenny Herbig, daughter of Robert and Rose Herbig, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Wichita West, she participated in softball and student council. She plans to major in criminal justice.
  • From Wichita Northwest High School: Jacob Spruill, son of Chris and Christy Spruill, is the recipient of a ACT Scholarship. At Northwest, he participated in baseball. He plans to major in engineering.
    Amanda Herman, daughter of Phill and Angie Herman, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Northwest, she participated in JROTC, leadership groups, and started the school’s recycling program. She plans to major in psychology.
    Jennifer Moore, daughter of Tom and Tonya Moore, is the recipient of a ACT Scholarship. At Northwest, she was involved in volleyball, track, basketball, and the National Honor Society. She made the honor roll all four years and plans to major in biology.
    Kaitlyn Meyer, daughter of Brian and Joyce Meyer, is the recipient of a ACT Scholarship. At Northwest, she was involved in photography, Teen Hope, creative writing, newspaper, Link Crew, Spanish Club, and the National Art Honor Society. She is undecided on a major.
  • From Conway Springs High School: Tiffany Stuhlsatz, daughter of Daniel and Lila Stuhlsatz, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Conway Springs, she was involved in FCCLA and newspaper. She plans to major in elementary education.
  • From Independence High School: Hannah Mills, daughter of Robert and Lisa Mills, is the recipient of a Trustee Scholarship. At Independence, she was involved in PUPPs, Spanish Club, and the National Honor Society. She was a member of the honor roll and plans to major in vet-tech.
  • From Eudora High School: Cecilia Lehmann, daughter of Dirk and Roberta Lehmann, is the recipient of a ACT Scholarship. At Eudora, she was involved in FFA, International Club, Cardinal Club, forensics, student council, FBLA, fall plays, SADD, softball, cheerleading, Teen Teams Talking Tobacco, and was a Kansas Honors Program Scholar. She plans to major in accounting.
  • From Syracuse High School: Kayla Norton, daughter of Craig and Krista Norton, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Syracuse, she participated in cheerleading, track, cross country, student council, FCCLA, SADD, Drama Club, vocal music, Scholars Bowl, Syracuse Singers, school plays, yearbook, and was the junior class president and National Honor Society president. She plans to major in photography.
  • From Centre High School: Allison Shields, daughter of Kim Shannon Fields, is the recipient of a ACT Scholarship. At Centre, she participated in volleyball, basketball, FFA, FBLA, and band. She was an all-league volleyball and basketball selection and was a member of the honor roll. She plans to major in biology.
  • From Marais des Cynes Valley High School: Bernard Butler, son of Roxanna Bialek, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Marais des Cynes Valley, he participated in softball and track. He plans to major in game design.
  • From Shidler (OK) High School: Danielle Fields, daughter of Ray and Shelly Fields, is the recipient of a Robert Brown Memorial Scholarship. At Shidler, she participated in softball, basketball, cheerleading, student council, yearbook, BPA, and was a class secretary. She plans to major in social work.
  • From Sheepshead Bay (NY) High School: Roberta Anis, daughter of Jean-Robert Anis and Marie Lubrun, is the recipient of a Shanks/Jodi Sanderholm Memorial Scholarship. At Sheepshead Bay, she was a member of the Step Team, softball team, and was an office aid. She plans to major in pre-med.
