Jazz Combo joins Concert Band for fall performance
With the men decked out in black suits and the ladies elegantly dressed in black evening gowns, the Cowley College Concert Band looked sharp and sounded even better during the band’s fall concert held Tuesday in the Robert Brown Theatre.
The concert also featured the performance of the college’s Jazz Combo.
The Concert Band opened the evening by performing five pieces of work and exited the stage to a warm reception from the audience.
The Concert Band, which was led by instrumental music instructor, Josh Fleig, performed “Conquering Spirit”, “Fantasia for Band”, “Circles of Light”, “Lux Aurumque”, and “Golden Plume”.
The Jazz Combo, consisting of Dan Byers on alto and tenor saxophone, Kelley Reynolds on trumpet, Christine Logan on bass, Paul Peterson on drums, and Fleig on guitar. then took the stage.
The Jazz Combo performed “Jazz ‘n’ Samba”, “Freddie the Freeloader”, “Scrapple from the Apple”, “How Insensitive”, and “Straight, No Chaser”.
Members of the Concert Band are, Jaklynn Anderson, Brittany Engle, Ashley Arseneault, Alyssa Nulik, Jessica Nevitt, Maggie Detrick, Jimmy Hathaway, Brian Lowe, Andrea Harris, Octavio Matamoros, Daniel Byers, Cooper Bruhn, Caleb Johnston, Alexia Grier, Caitlyn Mapel, Martin Glenn, Travis Duckett, Ashley Caldwell, Cory Dalton, Ethan Goodwin, Timothy Dine, Bonnie Thieme, Maria Schmidt, Jesse Shore, Lauren Miller, Michael Talbott, John Roetzer, Asa Muntz, Kelley Reynolds, Ryan Cells, Chad Buttram, Taylor Snider, Phillip Gehring, Chelsea Befort, Taryn Miller, and Cory Johnson.
