Childrens Theatre to present Hansel & Gretel
Cowley College invites the public to attend the Children’s Theatre production of “Hansel & Gretel” by Vera Morris, Monday and Tuesday in the Robert Brown Theatre.
“The Children’s theatre show is always a favorite for us to work on because it allows the actors to develop some really great characters,” said Scott MacLaughlin, director of theatre and theatrical services at Cowley College. “It’s great to see our students get excited about a project.”
A public performance of the play will be held Tuesday evening at 7. Cost of admission is $2 or $1 with a non-perishable food item that will be donated to Manna Ministries.
On Monday and Tuesday at 1 p.m., Cowley students will perform the play to a full house of elementary school children from USD470, Cedar Vale, Dexter, Ponca City, OK, Newkirk, OK, Central Burden, Sacred Heart Catholic School, Oxford, and Ark City Christian Academy.
“It’s great to see the school children so excited to come see one of our plays,” MacLaughlin said.
Student director, Jillian Turner, and stage manager, Jessica Hayden, have drawn praise from MacLaughlin with their work leading the production. Beth Pudden is in charge of costumes and Charlie Garrison is running the sound. While, Jackson Curtright and Tim Kennedy have headed building the set under designer and technical director Jamison Rhoads.
“This show has been a great chance for our students to really take on and experience some leadership roles,” MacLaughlin said.
