Act One to present "A Night of Scenes" on
Cowley College students will perform “A Night of Scenes” Monday, December 6 at 7 p.m. inside the Robert Brown Theatre. There is no cost to attend the event.
The short one act scenes are all student directed and acted.
“We wanted to give the students a chance to try their hand in directing a show, while having another opportunity to act and perform,” said Cowley College director of theatre and theatrical services, Scott MacLaughlin.
The actors and audience will be situated on the Robert Brown Theatre stage. About 100 chairs will be placed on the stage so the audience will be close to the actors.
“This makes for a unique atmosphere because of the intimate theatrical experience,” MacLaughlin said. “The audience will be right there, so they will be able to see all of the actors’ facial expressions.”
There are four student directors in charge of putting together a cast and crew as well as a short scene. Student directors are, Travis Spangler, Peter Onelio, Rachel Curtiss, and William Wegele. Along with directing the scenes, Onelio and Curtiss wrote their own scripts.
“There will be some drama and some comedy, it should be a fun night,” MacLaughlin said.
Along with “A Night of Scenes”, Act One Drama Club members are involved with the school play and musical. The club also sponsors 'Puttin' on the Hits (lip-sync contest) and Mr. Cinderfella.
