Brown Theatre evolves into a Winter Wonderland
With performances from students in Cowley College’s Intro to Dance and Tap and Jazz classes, as well as Ark City Dance, the Tigerettes and Cowley College Singers, the Robert Brown Theatre was packed with spectators on hand for the Winter Wonderland held Friday and Saturday.
More than 150 participants took part in the third annual event, which had individuals ranging from three years old through college age.
“It was amazing,” Cowley College dance instructor Jennifer Blatchford said. “We hope to make this a tradition of getting the community involved and into the holiday spirit.”
Led by Blatchford, students in Cowley College’s dance classes worked on their performances since September.
“The college kids were so great and did a lot of work behind the scenes as well,” Blatchford said.
In advance of the Christmas Vespers Concert this Sunday, the Cowley College Singers, under the direction of Connie Donatelli, performed “Breath of Heaven” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.
Members of Ark City Dance performed to 13 different songs under the direction of Terri Schroeder and were assisted by instructors Addie Gray and Blatchford.
While, the Tigerettes, which are led by Lindsay Sanderholm, performed to “My Only Wish”.
The Cowley dance classes performed to four songs and joined the Ark City Dance Competition Troupe on stage for a Christmas Spectacular, featuring 30 Santas and 30 reindeers, to close the show.
