Students present end of semester projects during portfolio reception
Numerous students, staff, faculty, family and friends gathered at a
portfolio reception for Cowley College’s creative writers on Monday,
Dec. 13. The reception was held in the President’s Dining Room
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Twelve students from the Creative Writing and Journal Writing/Storytelling classes presented their end of semester projects, and guests were able to visit with the writers while they looked over the works in the portfolios.
“The reception is an opportunity for our students to show off their creativity,” says Marlys Cervantes, instructor of the two classes and Humanities Department Chair. “They are able to decide on the works that will go into their portfolios, and then decide how they want to present these works.”
For many students, that included graphics, artwork and photography, along with their writings.
The spring reception will be held on May 5 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Earle N. Wright Community Room. Life: Through Words and Lens will include Cervantes and Ryan Doom’s creative writing classes, as well as Meg Smith’s Photography and Adam Borth’s communications classes.
