PTK welcomes 42 new members

On Sunday, October 24, Phi Theta Kappa welcomed 42 new members into the Alpha Gamma Upsilon chapter at Cowley College.

The induction ceremony was held in the Wright Room of the Brown Center. Anne Bloyer served as pianist and provided the pre-ceremony music as friends and family members of the inductees gathered to help honor their students who were being accepted into Cowley’s most prestigious academic association.

Faculty advisors, Nancy Ayers, Melinda Neal and Ryan Doom welcomed the group of approximately 70 students and guests.

Ayers presented Melinda Neal with a gift of appreciation for her six years of service to Phi Theta Kappa. Neal is stepping down and Ryan Doom will be the faculty advisor on the Ark City campus.

The guest speaker for the afternoon was Melissa Loibl, former PTK member and current assistant at the Mulvane campus.

ptk officersMelissa shared her Phi Theta Kappa experiences with the audience and emphasized what a positive impact they had on her life. She encouraged the new members to take advantage of the many opportunities that Phi Theta Kappa has to offer each one of them at their perspective campuses.

Chapter officers conducted the induction ceremony and served as hosts for the cake and punch reception.
