Creative works displayed at annual Writers Corner
About 50 audience members enjoyed the original creative works of Cowley College writers during Writers’ Corner held Thursday in the Earle N. Wright Community Room.
Ryan Doom, co-sponsor of Creative Claws and writing instructor, welcomed the group and invited all writers to submit works to Mile Marker Review, Cowley’s online literary journal. More information can be found at www.milemarkerreview.com.
“Once again, Cowley students really came through and showed their incredible talents,” said co-sponsor and Humanities Department chair, Marlys Cervantes. “Ryan and I have enjoyed watching the program grow and the students become more and more open and comfortable in their presentations.”
Several students had presented at previous Writers’ Corners, a couple students were first time readers, and Grant Williams, a member of the Humanities Department advisory committee and local author, presented a short story and a few poems. Williams expressed his appreciation of the program and the students.
The next Creative Claws meeting will be held March 8 at 2:30 p.m. Upcoming events are the annual Comedy Competition on April 5 and another Writers’ Corner on April 19, both at 7 p.m. in the Wright Room.
