A lot of practice and hard work paid off for the Cowley College Academic Excellence Challenge team Saturday at the Eastern Regional meet held at Allen County Community College. Frank Arnold and Beverly Grunder, co-sponsors of AEC, accompanied the team to Allen County.

“I was so excited for the team,” Grunder said. “They have continued to improve with each meet we have attended. Diligent practice has been key to helping the team improve. We are really looking forward to the state meet at the end of April in Salina.”

Wilson, a sophomore from Udall, placed 6th individually out of 35 participants. Curl, a sophomore from Braman, OK, served as the team’s captain. Bristor is a freshman from Caldwell, Call is a freshman from Cedar Vale, and Lowe is a sophomore from Wichita.

The eight teams attending the event were:  Allen County Community College, Coffeyville Community College (two teams), Cowley College, Johnson County Community College, Kansas City Kansas Community College, and Neosho County Community College (two teams).
