Jazz Band/CC Singers give rousing performance
Fresh off its trip to the University of Northern Colorado Jazz Festival in Greeley, CO, the Cowley College Singers and Cowley Jazz Band returned to Arkansas City to perform a spring concert Tuesday in the Robert Brown Theatre.
With many talented musicians on display, the Cowley College Jazz Band played jazz pieces they performed at the Greeley Jazz Festival.
Kendall Slovak (tenor saxophone), Wil Austin (piano), Ethan Goodwin (trumpet), Cameron Crabtree (guitar), and Travis Duckett (alto saxophone) had solos during the performance. Josh Fleig, director of the Jazz Band, accompanied the group on guitar.
The Cowley College Singers then sang "Rosanna", "If I Fell", "Bumble Bee", "In My Life", and "On a Clear Day". Bryce Sund, Benjamin Stranghoner and Rebecca Munoz served as soloists during “On a Clear Day”.
Next up for the school’s music department is the Cowley Concert Choir and Concert Band Spring Concert, which will be held Tuesday, May 1 at 7 p.m. in the Robert Brown Theatre. There is no cost to attend the concert.
Cowley College Singers are: Rebekah Anliker, Dylan Berry, Anthony Caldera, Devin Dice, Megan Hamlett, Sidney Hogan, Rachel McAfee, Rebecca Munoz, Lane Russell, Benjamin Stranghoner, Bryce Sund, Kristan Wiedeman, Kyle White, and Jason Williams.
Jazz Band members are: Travis Duckett, Cooper Bruhn, Kendall Slovak, Blake Gillihan, Mollie Talbert, Alex Smitley, Ethan Goodwin, Maria Schmidt, Sarah Enderud, Ryan Cells, Jordan Pohl, Cameron Crabtree, Wil Austin, Justin Davis, and Cody Waggoner.
