SCUBA 1 class offered at Cowley
Providing students with an academic and working knowledge of scuba diving, Cowley College is offering fall and summer SCUBA 1 courses. This is the first part of the Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) course and will prepare students to gain dive certification should they desire that level of recognition.
Students in the one-credit hour course will develop competencies in scuba diving to include equipment knowledge, dive physiology, practical use of dive equipment and diving skills in confined water. The course will be held at the Arkansas City High School swimming pool.
Textbooks will be provided to students the first night of class as SCUBA 1 consists of classroom and pool activities. Students will need basic aquatic skills and will need to complete a medical questionnaire upon enrolling in the class.
The instructor of the course is Tyler Brewer, a PADI Master SCUBA Diver Trainer at Amber Waves Diving Company in Augusta. For more information or to enroll for the course, call 620-441-6335.
