Dr. McAtee returns to the classroom

Having taught speech and communications courses on both the high school and collegiate level, Cowley College president Dr. Patrick J. McAtee is stepping back into the classroom to teach Dejon Ewing’s Public Speaking classes, while Ewing is taking a leave of absence.

Prior to becoming president at Cowley College in 1987, Dr. McAtee had previous teaching stints at Hays High School and Barton County Community College. At Hays, Dr. McAtee taught Speech and Debate courses, while he spent six years teaching Public Speaking classes at Barton County.

“It has been almost 30 years since I have been in the classroom, but it is something I am looking forward to,” Dr. McAtee said.

Dr. McAtee received a Master of Science degree in Speech Communication and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Theatre from Fort Hays State University. He received his Ph.D. from Kansas State University.
