Puttin on the Hits lip sync contest approaching
the tradition of being one of the highlights of the fall semester at
Cowley College, the 22nd annual lip-sync contest, Puttin’ on
the Hits, will take place Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7:00 p.m. inside the
Robert Brown Theatre.
Tickets will be available Thursday, Sept. 1. Tickets will be $2 and may be purchased in the Humanities Office inside the Brown Center or at the door.
Acts will have three minutes apiece to entice the crowd with their song and dance routines. Students will compete for cash prizes, while the staff, faculty and administration category is going to be set up as a showcase of their talent.
“It always proves to be a wonderfully entertaining evening,” said Scott MacLaughlin, director of theatre and theatrical services. “The event really showcases the student groups and brings the campus together.”
Last year, Jordan Lukert won the first place prize of $50 in the small group category, while members of Act One were awarded $50 and the first place prize for the large group category.
Several Cowley College staff and faculty provided entertaining performances, including MacLaughlin and his family.
“It’s a chance for people to let their hair down and have fun,” MacLaughlin said.
Another tradition of the evening is the playing of “Name That Tune” between acts. The game gives members of the audience a chance to win cash prizes.
Entry forms are available in the Humanities Office and are due by 3 p.m. Monday, September 12.
