Community members tour The Lodge during Chamber Coffee
With Cowley College’s newest dormitory only a little more than
a month old, members of the Arkansas City community had an opportunity
to tour The Lodge during Thursday morning’s Chamber Coffee.
The Lodge, located at 2575 Greenway, houses 51 students plus a dorm manager. Terra Maxey, dorm manager for The Lodge, spoke to a large crowd on hand for the event. Dorm residents Bronte Doughman from Wellington, and Tim Moss from Udall, then shared their experience of living in the dorm.
“This building is amazing,” Doughman said. “Living out here has been one of the best experiences of my life.”
Sue Saia, Cowley College vice president of student affairs, also spoke during the gathering as did Janet Siebert, CEO/President of the Arkansas City Chamber of Commerce. Siebert informed the crowd that Ben Schears, Cowley College vice president for institutional advancement, was the recent recipient of the Kansas Community Leadership Initiative Leader-Full Community Award presented by the Huck Boyd National Institute for Rural Development and the Kansas Health Foundation. Schears will be given $1,000 to donate to the charity of his choice.
After other Chamber business was conducted, members of the community were treated to a tour of The Lodge.
