Cowley students help to �Swipe Out Hunger�
In conjunction with Numana, Inc., 131 Cowley College students and community
members took part in the state-wide “Swipe Out hunger” packaging
event held Sunday at Cowley’s recreation building. A total of
37,800 meals were packaged for those who are starving in the Horn of
Volunteers packaged rice, soy, freeze-dried beans and a vitamin blend into packages that feed six people. More than 1,300 people show up each day for aid at the camp at the Horn of Africa.
Sixteen colleges and universities around Kansas joined the Swipe event. All totaled, 384,000 meals were packaged statewide on Sunday. The goal is to have 1,000,000 meals packaged by the end of the month.
