Talent Show continues to grow in popularity
Creative Claws held its 6th Annual Talent Show on Thursday in the Robert
Brown Theatre. Erica Parent, Creative Claws President, and Morgan Wilson
emceed the event and entertained the crowd. Judges for the evening
were Frank Arnold, Social Science instructor; Deborah Layton, Humanities
Instructor; and Mike “Mr B” Beauchamp, active community
member and photographer.
After all the acts had performed, the Double Dutch Jump Team of Clareasa Johnson, Clarissa Cannon, Symone Murray and Earriel Willis entertained the audience with many Cowley track stars joining them onstage while the ballots were being tabulated.
“The night was, once again, wonderful,” said Marlys Cervantes, club sponsor. “Cowley students never fail to amaze me. The talent was wonderful, and the audience at Cowley activities are always so supportive. It’s fun to see students from one area come out in support of another.”
Winners for the evening were: Grand Champion—Rebecca Munoz, who sang “How Did We Come to This”’; 1st Place Solo—Taylor Coney, who sang “When I Look at You”; 1st Place Duet/Group—Temporal Mechanics Union; 2nd Place Solo—Will Austin, who sang an original song “Just Sleep”; 2nd Place Duet/Group—Jason Williams and Rebekah Anliker, who also sang an original piece “Nobody Else”.
The next event for Creative Claws is only a few days away. On Tuesday, November 15, the club will host its second Writers’ Corner of the year at 7 p.m. in the Earle N. Wright Community Room, which is located in the Brown Center on Cowley’s main campus in Arkansas City. The evening will be filled with original works presented by Cowley students. Everyone is invited to come out and support the students. There is no admission charge. Students, staff and faculty interested in presenting just need to get copies of their works to Cervantes in the Humanities Department.
