Cowley AEC team takes part in Snow Bowl
The Cowley College AEC team competed at the annual Kansas Academic Excellence Challenge Snow Bowl this past Saturday at Hutchinson Community College.
Cowley’s team was comprised of Dylan Bristor, Patrick Curl, and Ryan Deyoe. Morgan Wilson who has practiced with the team was unable to attend. Bristor is a freshman from Caldwell, Curl a sophomore from Braman, OK, and Deyoe a freshman from South Haven. Wilson is a sophomore from Udall. All four young men had participated in scholar’s bowls at the high school level but this is their first year to compete at the college level.
Frank Arnold and Beverly Grunder, co-sponsors of AEC, accompanied the team to Hutchinson. “I was really proud of the team,” Grunder said. “Because it has taken us several weeks to get a team organized, we had only been practicing for a week prior to the competition. It was a great learning experience for them and they are looking forward to competing at the NAQT competition in January.”
Nine teams were in attendance: Garden City Community College, Colby Community College, Dodge City Community College, Coffeyville Community College, Allen County Community College, Hutchinson Community College, Johnson Community College, and Redlands Community College from Oklahoma.
