Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration of Unity to be held Sunday at Cowley College


Martin Luther King, Jr.The annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration of Unity event is scheduled for Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m. inside Cowley College’s Robert Brown Theatre.

This year’s program will feature music from the Arkansas City Magic Voices Show Choir and Delphia Jennings. The Ark High Singers will perform the National Anthem and Ark City High School student Rosa Mendez will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The event will also include the annual presentation of the Joe B. Avery Community Spirit Award.

The Celebration is a gathering of song, praise, fellowship, and tribute. It is free and open to the public. The Celebration is sponsored by the Arkansas City Human Relations Commission whose mission is to promote equal opportunity for all persons in Arkansas City. A reception will follow immediately in the Earle N. Wright Community Room in the Brown Center and refreshments will be served by the Arkansas City Soroptimist Organization.
