Homecoming to take place Feb. 13

Voting for Cowley College’s homecoming King and Queen will take place Feb. 4-11. Voting will be conducted online through Campus Connect.

Candidates were nominated from various clubs and organizations on campus. The King and Queen will be crowned at halftime of the men’s basketball game vs. Highland on Feb. 13. The Homecoming Groove Dance Party will follow from 9 p.m. to midnight in the Earle N. Wright Community Room.

Queen finalists
Brief biographies on the Queen finalists and their activities at Cowley:

Micah Fry of Arkansas City is the daughter of James and Debra Fry. At Cowley she is involved in PTK, ACES, Act One Drama Club, Media Club, Cowley Television, and is a Student Ambassador and Cowley Tutor. She was named September 2012 Student of the Month and was a finalist for Queen Alalah LXXXI. She was named to the President’s Honor Roll and plans to transfer to a four-year university.

Kaitlin McDonough of Sedan is the daughter of Kenny and Dera McNown, and Sean and Susie McDonough. At Cowley she is involved in choir, Act One and theatre. She plans to transfer to the University of Kansas and major in theatre.

Kassy Ptacek of Minneola is the daughter of Moe and Shelly Ptacek. At Cowley she is a member of the women’s basketball team, is an RA in the dorms, and is a Student Ambassador. She is a member of the Dean’s Honor Roll and was selected to the KJCCC Athletic Academic Team. She plans to transfer to a four-year university to major in elementary education and continue playing basketball.

Tiffany Stuhlsatz of Conway Springs is the daughter of Daniel and Lisa Stuhlsatz. At Cowley she is involved in KNEA and ACES. She plans to transfer to Fort Hays State University and earn a degree in early childhood education.

Brittany Swopes of Newkirk, OK is the daughter of Kim Coury-Swopes and Dareen and Sarah Swopes. At Cowley she is the vice president of Student-Senate and is a member of the Student Athletic Training Program. She plans to transfer to Oklahoma State University to earn a degree in health education and promotion and then earn a Master’s degree in athletic training.

King Finalists
Brief biographies on the King finalists and their activities at Cowley:

Alex Alvarez of Haysville is the son of Brandi Alvarez. At Cowley he is a Student Ambassador and is involved in the Film Club. He plans to transfer to Wichita State University and after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree, apply to the school’s Physicians Assistant program.

Dylan Berry of South Haven is the son of Joel Berry and Lori Slater. At Cowley he is involved in choir, CC singers and theatre. The graphic design major plans to continue his education at a four-year university once graduating from Cowley.

Craig Cropek of Winfield is the son of William Cropek and Vicki Knight. At Cowley he is involved in Chi Alpha, Art Club, ACES, Student Senate and Boxman Bible Study. He has been named to the Dean’s Honor Roll, Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, and received honors in Mu Alpha Theta and Phi Theta Kappa.

Gary Fizer III of Wichita is the son of Gary Fizer Jr. and Lisa Chatman. At Cowley he is involved in choir, theatre, IMPACT, FCA, Act One, intramurals, and is a Student Ambassador. He plans to transfer to a four-year university on a theatre scholarship.

Ruy Vaz of Sao Paulo, Brazil is the son of Ruy Vaz and Silvania Vaz. At Cowley he is a member of the soccer team and is involved in PTK, Cowley College Television, and the Cowley Press. He has twice been named Student Athlete of the Month and is a two-time Academic All-American. He was recently named the NSCAA Male Scholar Soccer Player of the Year and selected to Cowley College’s President’s Honor Roll. He is also a two-time All-American soccer player and was twice named KJCCC Offensive Player of the Year.
