ACES students spend weekend working at Camp McFadden

ACESConducting the first-ever ACES (Academic Civic Engagement through Service) camp out, 12 Cowley College students in the program spent the weekend working service projects at Camp McFadden on Kaw Lake in Ponca City, OK.

ACES members, along with sponsor James Fry, worked on cabins, trails, fencing, gardening, and general clean-up. They spent nine hours working on Saturday before staying the night in cabins at the lake and leaving for home at noon on Sunday.

Boy Scout Troop 328 from Arkansas City was also doing service projects at the lake and invited the students over for some Dutch oven treats.

In their free time, the students had an opportunity to do some canoeing, try out the zip line, and have a cookout.

Students in the ACES organization will also help with clean-up work at Cowley Lake this weekend.
