Mulvane Center honors students with Awards Banquet


banquetCowley College’s Mulvane Center held its Awards Banquet on Friday, April 26 at Luciano's Restaurant in Mulvane. Recognition was given to students involved in Math and Science Club and Phi Theta Kappa, as well as to students who had served as ambassadors and tutors over the last year.

Angelica Wood was given a special award honoring her as Tutor of the Year for her efforts in assisting students academically, above and beyond that expected of her in her role as a Cowley tutor. The first and second place winners of the Bridge Design contest were also announced. First place went to Elliott McNelly and second place was awarded to Angelica Wood.

In attendance to recognize the efforts of the students were Cowley College president Tony Crouch, vice president of academic affairs Slade Griffiths, vice-president of student affairs Ben Schears, associate dean of instruction Greg Nichols, associate dean of online and outreach education Stephani Johns-Hines, Humanities Department Chair Marlys Cervantes, director of outreach enrollment management Cathy Britton, and faculty Uwe Conrad, Nancy Ayers and Dr. Chad Killblane.

Tutors recognized: Angelica Wood, Elliot McNelly, Heather Ashley, Justin Parton, Kaleb Barker, Tonya Gastineau, and Ashlie Ake.

Math & Science Club members recognized: Brandon McIntosh. Jeramy Lamar, Jaison Moravec, and Kayla Dye.

PTK members: Abigail Shinkle, Meghan McCloskey, and Allyssa Schartz.

Ambassadors: Joshua Holcomb, Ruth Janzen, Erin James, Dominique Banks, and Chrissinda Hunter.
