Act One to present "A Night of Scenes" on May 2

Cowley College students will perform “A Night of Scenes” Thursday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Robert Brown Theatre. There is no cost to attend the event.

The short one act scenes are all student directed and acted.

The actors and audience will be situated on the Robert Brown Theatre stage.

“We’ve created a small black box style performance space,” Cowley College theatre director Scott MacLaughlin said. “It really brings the audience closer to the action.”

There are three student directors in charge of putting together a cast and crew as well as a short scene. The students held auditions just before spring break and have been busy rehearsing their scenes for the past couple of weeks.

Student directors are, Alexie Pearce, Lauren Gardner, and Robin McGonigal.

“People can expect a fun night of theatre,” MacLaughlin said. “Most are short scenes that have great characters and fun conflict. It’s a great opportunity for our actors and audience alike.”

The acting class will also present their final scenes as part of the evening.
