Community comes out to support Stuff the Bus event

Receiving over $1,300 of cash donations and enough items to fill the Cowley College bus on Friday, thestuff the bus bus is on its way to View Acres Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK to provide assistance to those impacted by the recent tornadoes.

Along with the $1,300 an additional $700 was collected at ACE Hardware store during the event, which will be matched and sent to the American Red Cross.

“The support from the Cowley community and the Ark City community was overwhelming,” Linda Kreutzer, Cowley College Director of Human Resources said. “There were people stopping by all day who just wanted to offer what support they could to help perfect strangers, donations large and small. We also had random community members stopping by to simply say ‘thank you’ to Cowley College for doing this.”

The bus had stops at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Arkansas City, Cowley College, Ace Hardware, and Wal Mart, where the store donated $100 worth of canned goods.

Items collected included, dog food, diapers, baby food, water, non-perishable food items, toiletries, snack foods, and various other products.

“I called Ron Reynolds from View Acres Baptist Church after the event, and he was so excited about what we are bringing him today,” Kreutzer said. “He expressed how heart-felt it was to know that strangers could show so much care and concern for people they never met.”

Kreutzer will join a few other Cowley College employees to deliver the donations to View Acres Baptist Church.

“Listening to Ron Reynolds talk about how they are in the communities helping the people in the emergency shelters and how our donations were going to go directly to the people who need it most, I knew this was the right place for our donations to go,” Kreutzer said.
