Cowley announces new Student Senate Officers


Student SenateServing as the governing organization for Cowley College students, the Cowley College Student Senate (CCSS) will enter the school year with new leaders. Kelsea Barr was inducted to the position of president of CCSS, while Clayton Bringer was named vice president.

The purpose of CCSS is to promote the interests of students to various councils, the administration, and other groups. CCSS supports extracurricular activities, student organizations and special events that promote mental and physical wellness and growth opportunities for a diverse student population.

Barr will preside over the CCSS meetings, while she and Bringer will also plan meetings and coordinate events.

Barr is glad to be able to project the voice of the student body to campus administration. Her welcome letter to incoming Cowley College students spoke highly of the school and wished the students success in a year filled with fun and excitement.

“Cowley is committed to your success, and you will find that there are many opportunities for you to engage in campus life,” Barr said. “Join clubs that interest you, attend athletic events and be involved with student life.”

Katey Hubler served as the Student Senate president during the 2012-2013 academic year and Brittany Swopes was vice president.

Barr is from Ponca City, OK, while Bringer is from Argonia. Chelsea Blasi from Colwich will serve as the Sophomore Liaison.

Kristi Shaw and Charlee Wilson serve as sponsors of CCSS, which is located in the Nelson Student Center’s Game Room.
