Gearing up for the 2012-2013 academic year, Cowley College recently held in-service meetings for the school’s adjunct instructors.

On Monday, August 13, Cowley held an in-service for its adjunct instructors on its main campus in Arkansas City. On Tuesday, August 14, an in-service was held for adjunct instructors at the school’s Mulvane Center.

The in-services consisted of breakout sessions as well as department/discipline specific sessions.

The adjunct instructors teach all disciplines and have varying workloads. Some will teach in the traditional classroom setting, while others will conduct online or hybrid courses.

Slade Griffiths, Cowley College vice president of academic affairs, believes the college is stronger because of its qualified and gifted adjunct faculty.”

“The college has many qualified adjunct instructors who, like the full-time faculty, care deeply about student learning and success,” Griffiths said. “Many of the adjuncts can easily bring in practical experience to the classrooms from their jobs.”
