Cowley College receives S.T.A.R. Award

S.T.A.R. AwardMembers of the Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce visited Cowley College’s main campus on Tuesday to present the college with the S.T.A.R. (Small Trade Achievement Recognition) Award for August.

The purpose of the S.T.A.R. Award is to recognize businesses in Arkansas City that demonstrate outstanding qualities of spirit of community and meet the standards of the S.T.A.R. program.

Pete Gochis, CEO of the Arkansas City Chamber of Commerce, was among those on hand to present the college with the award.

“The college met each of the criteria with their community engagement, volunteerism, longtime Chamber membership, and opportunities they provide to give back to the community,” Gochis said.

By winning the monthly S.T.A.R. Award, the college is now in the running for the S.T.A.R. of the Year Award, which will be presented at the annual Arkansas City Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

Tony Crouch, Cowley College executive vice president of business services, accepted the award on behalf of the college.

“Cowley College is humbled to receive this award from the Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce,” Crouch said. “At the same time, we are proud of the many ways our students, faculty, and staff give back to the community. This award belongs to them.”

Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce Board members Toni Greene and Sarah Long joined Crouch and Gochis as did committee members Abby Dickey, Angie Bruce, Kerri Falletti, and Lorace Neal (Business and Industry Committee Chair).
