C.A.A.T. preparing for fall semester events


C.A.A.T. teamStriving to positively influence lives by setting an example for their peers through their responsible actions and choices, the Cowley Activity Awareness Team (C.A.A.T.) hopes to promote healthy lifestyles through activities they have planned during the fall semester.

During the month of September, C.A.A.T’s awareness theme is “Addictions in College.” They will be working on a community service project with Manna Ministries in Arkansas City.

In October, the theme will be “Substance Abuse.” The C.A.A.T. team will work with Numana Food Packaging for its community service project. November’s theme is “Texting and Driving.” During this month, the group will work with the Adopt a Highway program.

December’s annual monthly awareness theme will consist of “Gambling/Money Management,” while the monthly community service project will be in conjunction with Toys for Tots.

C.A.A.T.C.A.A.T. members are: Aaron Bennett (Wichita), Taylor Best (Ark City), Desiree Bland (Wichita), Chelsey Bruce (Ark City), Gary Fizer (Wichita), Ashley Flaming (Belle Plaine), Julie Hinson (Ark City), Trea House (Cheney), Tori Idland (Wichita), Brenda Mapel (Wichita), Val Phillips (Wichita), Sam Robinson (Belle Plaine), Heather Shipley (Howard), Paige Traffas (Ark City).

Both Mapel and Hinson are returning C.A.A.T. members from the 2011-2012 academic year.
