Attending the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 5 awards presentation Sunday evening at Hotel Old Town in Wichita, Kris Ripley was presented with a Silver Medallion Award in the photography category.

The NCMPR District 5 Conference began with Sunday night’s award banquet and ran through Tuesday.

Ripley came to Cowley from Council Grove High School, where he graduated in 2004. He majored in graphic design and graduated from Cowley College in 2006. While a student at Cowley, he started as a work study and eventually took over working part time doing graphic design work for the school shortly after graduation.

Ripley has been a full-time employee at the college since July 2010. The inspiration behind most of his work is primarily pop culture.

The conference had presentations on Strategic Marketing as well as lessons in Marketing and Public Relations. Media members from the Wichita Eagle and Wichita Business Journal were on hand to share tips and information, while KAKE News anchor Larry Hatteberg, and Bill Gardner, founder of, served as keynote speakers.
