Cowley conducts Open House at newly expanded Mulvane Center


Mulvane Open House

Providing members of the public an opportunity to tour Cowley College’s expansion to its Mulvane Center, the school held an Open House at the facility from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Refreshments and giveaways were provided.

Open HouseThe facility, which is located at 410 E. Main Street in Mulvane, used to serve as the town’s post office building. The remodel consisted of converting the former 5,000 square foot post office building into four classrooms, three offices, a tutoring room and a student lounge complete with USB compatible electrical outlets so that laptops and cell phones can plug directly into the wall.

An additional 30 parking spaces were also added to the school’s Mulvane Center.

Stephani Johns-Hines, associate dean of online and outreach education at Cowley College’s Mulvane Center, was instrumental in the day’s events.

“Having been a part of the Mulvane community for nearly 25 years, Cowley College is very excited to continue our growth here,” Johns-Hines said. “The Mulvane Campus has a great family of highly qualified instructors and staff that are committed to providing the quality of education Cowley is known for. This expansion provides us with an opportunity to do so for even more students, offering even more courses and programs of study.”

Individuals from the Mulvane and Derby Chamber of Commerce were in attendance. Also, administration and students from Mulvane - USD263 and area business owners were on hand for the event.

Along with Cowley College administrators, the school had instructors, tutors and students at the Open House. Representatives from the school’s Allied Health Department, Equine Management class, and Student Services were also available to answer any questions during the event.
