Kansas Strong Science workshop to be held March 9

The Cowley College Kansas National Education Association Student Program (education majors) is co-sponsoring an upcoming Kansas Strong Science workshop for kindergarten through eighth grade teachers on Saturday, March 9 at the school’s Robert Brown Center in Arkansas City.

Licensed teachers will be provided a $50 stipend for attending and will receive free materials to implement the lessons in the classroom. Lunch will be provided. Space is limited. There is no catch. You come, you learn, you get paid and you get free materials.

Kansas Strong is an organization sponsored by the Kansas Oil and Gas Industry which is looking to educate students across Kansas about fossil fuels, oil production, energy, etc. www.kansasstrong.com

Julie Rhoads, Director of Education at Cowley College, attended a workshop two years ago then sponsored a workshop for Ark City teachers last year.

“They were thrilled with the knowledge gained, the science lessons developed by Kansas teachers and the free materials,” Rhoads said.
