Cowley students to have work on display at Final Friday art crawl

Final FridayAs part of the Final Friday art crawl, Cowley College Fine Art students will take up temporary residence at The Frame Guild located at 506 East Douglas in Wichita on Friday, Nov. 30. Student artists will have a variety of works on display and for sale beginning at 6 p.m. The Cowley gallery, like all Final Friday venues, is free and open to the public.

Students scheduled to contribute to the show include Kat Lowe, Amanda Dantas, Henry Engelmeyer, Alex Bowker, Luke Smith, Marc Hunt, Amy Sternburger, Kiefer Waltman, John Laffite, Kristen Phipps, Kara Thomas, Emily Loy, and Rayn Heiora.

“We are really proud of their drive and their hard work,” Cowley College art instructor Mark Flickinger said. “They want to show the greater community what they are doing.”

Patrons can walk to the Frame Guild, or take The Q-Line trolley that tours the entire circuit of venues.

Art galleries, museums, restaurants and retail shops stay open late and welcome visitors.

Alex Bowker will be among the Cowley students to have their work on display and for sale. Bowker will have a few of his ink landscapes at the event.

“This is a great way to get people to see my work,” Bowker said.

Henry Engelmeyer will have a pair of three-foot tall pots for sale as well as five, one-foot tall pots.

Engelmeyer was among a group of Cowley students that took part in the Final Friday art crawl in April.

“It was really productive, a lot of the artists sold at least one piece,” Engelmeyer said.

Fellow art student Kat Lowe is from Wichita and has attended several of the Final Friday art crawls.

“I always look forward to it, so it will be different being able to take part in it and show people what I make,” Lowe said.

Lowe will have some chalk pastels and paintings for sale.
