Golden Tigers spring enrollmentSpring enrollment for classes in the Golden Tigers at Cowley College was held Tuesday afternoon in the Earle N. Wright Community Room.

The Golden Tigers (formerly Institute of Lifetime Learning) was started in 1974 under the leadership of Mary Margaret Williams and is for women and men age 50 and over.

The program has continued to grow over the years and today offers many educational opportunities for older adults in Cowley and surrounding counties. Margaret Neal has been the coordinator of the program since 1997.

Along with spring classes, the Golden Tigers also have three educational trips planned in the spring.

A special celebration to recognize the program’s 40 years in existence will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1 in the Earle N. Wright Community Room. The event will feature special guests, music, highlights through the years, and more.

“It is exciting to still be inexistence after 40 years and we hope to be here a lot longer,” Neal said.
