Cowley to host College Goal Sunday, Feb. 23

FAFSACollege Goal Sunday is a one-day, free event where students and their parents can receive professional, one-on-one help filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The event will be held Sunday, Feb. 23 from 2-4 p.m. inside Cowley College’s Webb-Brown Academic Center.

College graduates earn twice as much as high school graduates. High school seniors and their parents can receive professional assistance at College Goal Sunday filling out the FAFSA, which can make paying for college or technical school more affordable. Plus, one student will win a $500 scholarship to the school of their choice at each College Goal Sunday location. (Scholarship recipient must be a first-semester freshman the fall of 2014.)

College Goal Sunday makes applying for financial aid easier and helps ensure the student is considered for the maximum aid for which they are eligible. Families should bring their 2013 income tax returns and/or 2013 W-2 forms, or their 2013 year-end pay stubs and 2012 tax returns.

Families who have not completed their 2013 income tax forms can learn valuable information to help them finish filling out the FAFSA at home.

In Kansas, College Goal Sunday is a nonprofit event coordinated by the Kansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (KASFAA) and other interested and dedicated volunteers. This annual event is supported by funds from USA Funds; KASFAA; and the federal College Access Challenge Grant, administered by the Kansas Board of Regents.
