Principal and Counselor Day held at Cowley College

On Thursday, March 27th Cowley College hosted their annual Principal and Counselor Day. Nineteen area Principals and Counselors were able to attend the event.

The day began with breakfast and a welcoming address from Cowley President N. Clark Williams. Williams also discussed the vision and future of Cowley College. Helen Nakos, the Director of Admissions & Interim Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management highlighted on making a seamless transition from High School to Cowley College improving student success throughout.

Next, the day included open roundtable discussions between the Principals, Counselors, 11 Cowley staff members and eight Cowley faculty members. The purpose of these discussions ranged from Cowley’s process in communicating with high schools to hearing the counselors’ point of view on application and enroll processes. All of which generated future ideas to better serve our area community high schools.

A delicious lunch of salad, chicken, pork, veggies and dessert was served from Great Western Dining. During lunch several student ambassadors and fellow classmates ate lunch with the Principals and Counselors. This allowed for the guests to hear first-hand experiences from current students.

  Physics Demonstrations

To conclude the day Principals and Counselors were able to choose from a number of Cowley Experiences. These Cowley Experiences included riding in the patrol car or partaking in the Use of Force Simulator with criminal justice, hands-on experience with SimMan Larry from our paramedic program, or they could have experienced Cowley’s Career and Technical education programs (automotive, welding, mechatronics, NDT, or machine tool tech).

Cowley College received wonderful feedback to continue improving its student success and also received much gratitude from the guests in attendance.
