Cowley College to hold 91st Commencement on May 10


A total of 683 students will be candidates for graduation Saturday, May 10 when Cowley College holds its 91st Commencement exercises inside W.S. Scott Auditorium. A reception for graduates, family members and friends will be held immediately following the ceremony in the Earle N. Wright Community Room inside the Brown Center.

Three hundred and six of the students are expected to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Along with the conferring of degrees, college alumni Ed and Linda Hargrove will be presented with this year’s Outstanding Tiger Alumni Award. Mr. Hargrove is a 1967 graduate of Cowley College, while Mrs. Hargrove is a 1970 graduate of the college.

The Hargrove’s will serve as the featured speakers at Commencement.

Members of Cowley’s Student Senate will address the class. Kelsea Barr, sophomore pre-law major from Ponca City, OK, served as Student Senate president during the 2013-2014 academic year. While, Clayton Bringer, a sophomore machine tool technology major from Argonia, KS, served as Student Senate vice president.

Students listed in the official Commencement program on Saturday, May 10 are candidates for the associate of arts degree, the associate degree of applied science, the associate degree of general studies, the associate degree of science, or the college certificate.

The students include summer 2013 graduates through summer 2014 graduates. Students who graduated last summer and last December have received their diplomas. May 2014 graduates will receive their diplomas in June.

The Sid Regnier Bookstore at 207 W. Fifth Ave. will be open 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 10.

Individuals requiring special seating at Commencement should plan to arrive no later than 9:40 a.m. or call 441-5599 in advance.
