Community comes out for Golden Tigers’ summer enrollment


Golden TigersWith classes set to begin in June, summer enrollment for classes in the Golden Tigers at Cowley College was held Wednesday in the Webb-Brown Academic Center, Room 203, on the Arkansas City campus.
More than 50 individuals signed up for summer classes.

“Enrollment went very good considering we only have eight classes offered,” Golden Tigers program coordinator Margaret Neal said.

Classes offered are, Aqua Fun (sessions in June and July), Exercise (sessions in June and July), Mah Jongg Players, Driver Safety, Creative Cards, and Trash to Treasures.

The Golden Tigers is for women and men age 50 and over. Summer enrollment will continue to be accepted by telephone or mail.

Along with the summer classes, the Golden Tigers are planning a summer trip to Wichita to attend the Positive Aging Workshop on Tuesday, June 17. The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sedgwick County Extension Center located at 21st and Ridge Road.

Workshops on protecting your health, wealth, yourself and more will be offered throughout the day. Sierra Scott, KSCW news anchor will be the luncheon speaker. The trip will cost $20 for workshops, continental breakfast, a boxed lunch, vendor booths and transportation.

Also, the “Life in a Jar” play will be presented Thursday, Oct. 16 in the Robert Brown Theatre. If you are interested in reading the book, copies can be checked out from Cowley College’s Renn Memorial Library.
