Cowley�s Golden Tigers to hold fall enrollment Aug. 27

 

The Cowley College Golden Tigers, a popular program for men and women age 50 and over, will hold its fall enrollment from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, August 27 in the Earle N. Wright Community Room inside the Brown Center on the main campus in Arkansas City.

 

Golden TigersThere is a $5 registration fee per person for the semester, and a $2 fee per class. Some classes have additional costs or supplies needed.

Persons attending fall enrollment are reminded to bring their mailing labels to use on the enrollment form and sign-up sheets. This saves writing their name multiple times and speeds up the enrollment process.

Four educational trips are planned throughout the fall. The trips include Fort Scott, Oklahoma City, OK, and a pair of stops in Wichita.

Educational Trips:

  • Fort Scott, KS, Tuesday, Sept. 17, to the historic town of Fort Scott in eastern Kansas. There will be a guided tour of the fort and a trolley ride to see other historic sites. There will also be an opportunity to visit the Lowell Milken Center and enjoy a lunch buffet at the Lyons Twin Mansion. We will depart at 7 a.m. and return by 8 p.m. Cost - $50 (includes lunch)
  • Wichita, KS, Thursday, Oct. 17, to the Great Plains Nature Center where Lori Beck, naturalist, will present a program on the “Critters of the Great Plains.” There will also be time to explore the nature trails and displays at the center. After lunch the group will travel to Botanica to enjoy the fall flowers and butterfly house. On the way home there might even be a stop at a pumpkin patch. Plan to leave at 8:30 a.m. and return by 6 p.m. Cost - $35 (lunch on your own).
  • Oklahoma City, OK, Friday, Oct. 25. If you enjoy art, crafts, antiques and food, you will want to sign up for “An Affair of the Heart” show in Oklahoma City. One of the largest arts and crafts shows in the United States, the show occupies seven buildings with nearly 1,000 exhibitors. Leave at 7 a.m. and return at 7 p.m. Cost - $25 (lunch on your own).
  • Wichita, KS, Thursday, Dec. 5, to Prairie Pines Christmas Tree Farm. Visit the Old Barn Christmas Shop prior to dinner. This year’s show is “A 1940’s Radio Christmas Carol”. Depart at 4:30 p.m. and return around 11 p.m. Cost - $50 (includes dinner).
